Today is quite special, because today is my first Sunday Service after being hiatus for almost 3 months (???). Not to mention that it’s also my first Sunday service at the Word Of Hope (Q.C). I went there alone and attended there 10:30am mass, lead by Ptr. David Sobrepena.
It was a really nice sermon, although it might be a bit overwhelming to others, since he talked about the 7 Sinful Things That GOD Hates – according to Proverbs 6: 16-19. But for me, it’s exactly what I needed. A sweet reminder for me and for everyone, especially for someone like me that has been gone for too long and haven’t heard the God’s Word for months.
Since I feel really blessed for His words today, I’m opted to share it here…for the benefit of my brothers and sisters here in wordpress.
“The 7 Sinful Things That God Hates (according to Proverbs 6: 16-19)”
There are six things the Lord hates,
seven that are detestable to him:
17 haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
18 a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil,
19 a false witness who pours out lies
and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.
Too Much PRIDE. This is exactly the same reason why Lucifer was thrown out of heaven. Because he thinks that he deserve a much better/higher place on the kingdom of heaven that he almost wanted to have the same power as the Lord Our God. Let us not be the person that has too much dependence on the work of his hands. It is not wrong to be proud on what you have accomplished, but it is wrong to think that you are better than the rest of the people around you because of that accomplishment. (Read Luke 18: 10-14).
A Lying Tongue. According to John 8:44, the origin of lying is Satan – and I’m pretty sure no one wants to be like him. I know that telling the truth is most of the time more challenging, that’s why WE sometimes prefer to just lie. No matter what’s the reason behind it, it is wrong and there’s a punishment waiting for us if we keep on continuing in breaking one of God’s commandment (Exodus 20:16), which is by going to hell (Revelation 21:8). Let’s try harder! When we accepted God in our lives, this is one of the promises that we’ve made with him (Colossians 3:9). I know it is hard to accomplish because of how tempting our world is, but we have to. And If you think that you are being tested, bow down and ask the Lord to bless you with strength to fight with it.
A Murderer. Do not be that someone who sheds blood of innocent people. This is definitely one of the biggest problem of our society. People nowadays tend to be shameless already when it comes to killing people; could it be because of religions conflict, misunderstanding, and robbery/crime. We seems to be blind eyed already about killing someone using our bare hands. But aside from those reasons, according to 1 John 3:15 – hatred could be considered as bad as killing people. And if you think that your heart is drowning with hatred, breathe and remember the gospel of Matthew 22: 37-39 “Love your neighbor as yourself”.
A Wicked Mind. No one loves a wicked imagination. A mind that is full of sinful thoughts (Matthew 15:19) and sensual thoughts (Romans 1:21-32). If you are currently encountering this kind of situation, pray and ask for God’s forgiveness, and ask for strength for your heart be able to fight with these evil.
Fast Into Doing Evil Things. God will never be happy for someone that has a fast feet into running in doing evil things. People who loves pleasure more than their love of the Lord (2 Timothy 3:4). People who loves themselves too much (2 Timothy 3:2).
Providing False Testimony. People who provides false testimony for their own benefit, even that will result in putting someone else’s freedom behind the bars – or simply pointing the blame into someone else.
The Cause Of All The Trouble. This is for people who spreads rumors intentionally (James 1:26), just to put the community in a not so peaceful environment. Gossiping and providing false information are just two of the many evil actions of these people. Stirring up stories to make everyone hates everyone. I’m sure we all know what a sad environment that is to live in. As a Christian and a believer of God, let us make sure to help the community in having a very peaceful and happy environment.
Always pray and ask God for forgiveness, because our God is a loving God. But make it a point to stay away from people who lovingly commit these sins (Romans 16:17).
